Debra Sue Brant, 67, of Akron, passed away suddenly at home on August 18, 2026. She was born in Paris, Kentucky on November 30, 1958 to the late Earl and Alice Howard.
As a young teen, Deb relocated to Ohio and attended Rittman High School. After graduating in 1977, Deb started her family. Her son, Rickey knew her as a caring, generous mother who was willing to sacrifice her own comforts to make sure he had what he needed. She was so proud of his accomplishments and loved attending his extracurricular events as he grew up.
Deb loved country music and often went to concerts with her girlfriends. During a girls night out at the Wadsworth Eagles Club to watch a local country band, Deb first laid eyes on the drummer, Kevin Brant. They didn't take long to discover they were made for one another and ten months later, they made their union official on October 4, 1996.
Together, Deb and Kevin enjoyed a life full of family, friends, and beloved animals. Deb doted on her Yorkies, Bengal cats, African gray parrot, and blue and gold Macaw.
She displayed her creativity in the crafts she produced: beautiful quilts, crocheted items, and handmade jewelry. Many of these items will be treasured forever by those who received them as gifts.
For twelve years, Deb worked at Myers Industries, Inc. where she made several good friends.
Deb's life and legacy will be forever remembered by her loved ones. She is survived by her husband, Kevin; son and daughter-in-law, Rickey and Krisha Pagniano; grandchildren, Bryce, Zurie, and Layne Pagniano; brother, Gene (Kim) Howard; in-laws, Ruth Howard, Karen Eisel, Kyle (Sheila) Brant, Brenda (Ken) Weis, and Craig Brant; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, including special neighbor, Sheila and longtime friend, Wadonna.
In addition to her parents, Deb was preceded in death by her brother, William Howard; and sister-in-law, Mandy Morris.
Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Deb's life on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from 5-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron.
