Listen to Obituary

Deborah Mae “Debbie” Herbert Fox, 77, passed peacefully on January 28, 2026, at the nursing home where she resided in Ohio.

Born November 12, 1948, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Debbie was the daughter of the late Dorothy Mae Herbert and Charles Asbury Herbert. She spent most of her life in Lorain, Ohio, before later moving to Louisville, Kentucky, where she built a life filled with family, laughter, and more than a few strong opinions.

Debbie is now reunited in heaven with her husband, Edward Leroy Fox, her adored miniature pinscher Daisy Mae, whom she loved and spoiled, her cherished grandson David Eugene Leighty, and her brothers Michael and Russell Herbert.

She leaves behind a large and loving family who will carry her memory forward. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Charles and Debbie Herbert; her sisters Sandy Steele and Tracey Monos and brother-in-law Scott Monos; and a legacy built through her children and generations that follow.

Debbie was a devoted mother to David Allen Solomon, Charles William Solomon, and Andrea Kelly Solomon. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother whose love reached far and wide. She is also survived by grandchildren Jeffrey Sturgeon, Samantha Mae Holbrook (Mason Holbrook), Theodore Stephen Leighty, Dustin Lee Enzor (Kylie Enzor), Dakota Andrew May (Kelsey May), Brayden Speckhart, as well as many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren through her stepdaughters Julie and Stephanie Fox.

Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, including Elijah Sturgeon, Hadleigh, Halynn, and Harbor Holbrook, along with many extended grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who loved her deeply. To know Debbie was to be part of a big, ever-growing circle of family.

She loved a good shopping trip, especially if it ended with bags in hand, margaritas shared with friends and family, and cheering on the Louisville Cardinals. She enjoyed Kentucky traditions like Thunder Over Louisville and the excitement of the Kentucky Derby, and she especially treasured time spent at Herbert family reunions, where laughter was loud and stories grew better with every telling. Known affectionately as the sweet tea making queen, she believed no visit was complete without a full glass and a full conversation.

Debbie had a sweet smile paired with a spirited personality. She could be sassy and, at times, a little hard to get along with, but if you were in her circle, you were loved fiercely and without question. She believed in honesty, loyalty, and a healthy dose of tough love, whether you asked for it or not. Her family agrees she kept life interesting and never left anyone wondering where they stood.

She will be remembered for her humor, her strength, and the deep love she had for her family and friends. The memories, laughter, and traditions she created will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her. Somewhere, the sweet tea is still flowing and the stories are still being told.

Debbie is to be cremated, and the family will hold a celebration of life later this year, with the date and location to be announced once arrangements are finalized.
