Deborah L. “Debbie” Adams, and sometimes fondly known as “Sally,” 74, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025. Born on April 15, 1951, in Phillipsburg, Pennsylvania, Debbie was the beloved daughter of Charles and Frances Hugg. Debbie will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her warmth, laugh with her, or receive one of her daily phone calls just to check in and say hello.
For 32 years, Debbie shared her life with her best friend and beloved companion, Allegro Fears. Together, they created countless memories filled with love, laughter, and a deep sense of partnership. Even after his passing, Debbie remained close with all of the members of his family, a bond that remained a treasured part of her heart.
A proud mother and grandmother, Debbie found endless joy in her only son, Michael (Katie) Adams, and her granddaughter, Jenna Carter. Her eyes would light up whenever she spoke of Jenna, and she treasured every moment they spent together. Debbie’s family also includes her brother, Brad Hugg, sisters, Pamela Barone and Brenda Bacon, nieces Heather and Krista, all of whom she adored dearly.
A dedicated and hardworking woman, Debbie retired from North Akron Savings Bank after many years of service. After retiring, Debbie rediscovered a sense of purpose when she joined the staff at Maplewood Senior Living in Cuyahoga Falls, where she delighted in caring for “her little old ladies.” Her nurturing spirit and sense of humor made her beloved among both residents and colleagues alike. Beyond her work, Debbie poured her heart into her close-knit neighborhood, considering her neighbors an extension of her family. She delighted in being “grandma” to the little ones on her street and a dear friend to many. Collecting teddy bears, working in her yard, and attempting her own home improvements were some of the small joys that reflected her warm and gentle personality. Those who knew her will fondly remember her endless phone conversations—her favorite way to stay connected, catch up, and offer words of love and encouragement.
As was her request, cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal calling hours or services. A celebration of Debbie’s life will be planned in the near future, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory and the love she shared with so many. Her son, Michael Adams, wishes to express his sincere gratitude for the outpouring of support, kind words, and warm memories shared about his mom—each a testament to the remarkable woman Debbie was and the lasting impact she leaves behind.
