David Lee Shackelford, affectionately known as "Shack," passed away on July 15, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. Born on December 31, 1964, in Akron, he was a dedicated construction worker with a love for concrete. David graduated from Springfield High School in 1984 and embraced his passion for construction throughout his career.
He was a man who never failed to make others smile and was known for his quick one-liner jokes. Beyond his work, Dave had a multitude of interests and hobbies. He enjoyed hunting and was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns. Taking pride in his yard, he found great joy in working on it, often spending weekends tending to his lawn.
David shared his life with Michelle, his wife of 22 years, and together they undertook the proud accomplishment of renovating their home, a project that held deep meaning for both of them. He was a loving father to his daughters, Danielle and Natasha Shackelford, and had step-children Larry Burge (Randi Stewart), Ashley Burge, and Tina Burge (Raymond Mull). His legacy continues through his many grandchildren: Jeremy Wallace, Katrina Carr, Madison Burge, Katelyn Anderson, Lily Norris, and Carter, Natalia, and Niyah Bower.
David is also survived by his sister, Suzi (Brian) McCoy, and his cherished nephew and niece, Dylan and Cheyene McCoy. He leaves behind his best friend, Rick Roop, along with many friends and family members who will remember him fondly.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Clark, and his step-father, Chuck Clark.
