David Ray Whitt, 59, of Akron, passed away April 22, 2013 at his home. He was born in Akron on February 7, 1954 to Roy and Wanda Whitt. David was an avid sports fan and enjoyed many years as a referee and umpire for basketball, football, baseball, and volleyball.
His family will miss his strength and courage as well as his conversations and philosophies on life.
David was preceded in death by his father, Roy Whitt; sister, Robin Flaker; and grandson, Dylan Whitt. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Hester Whitt; mother Wanda Whitt; children, Dave Jr., Lisa, and Donald Whitt; siblings, Sandy (Betsy) Whitt, Malinda Waller, and Roy Whitt, Jr.; and his beloved dogs, Murphy and Molly.
Family and friends may call on Friday April 26 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to LifeBanc, 4775 Richmond Rd., Cleveland, Ohio 44128-5919.
