David M. Case

David M. Case, 75, of Akron, passed away on July 4, 2025. Dave was born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma on June 4, 1950 to the late Waldo and Harriet Case.

Dave was raised in Akron and graduated from Revere High School. After earning his diploma, he immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country in Vietnam from 1967-1969. When Dave returned home, he started racing stock cars and dirt bikes. He held several jobs, including working at his father's gas station, before joining the City of Akron Sewer Maintenance Department. He worked for the city for 15 years before an injury forced his retirement.

In his free time, he loved being outdoors. He was happiest fishing on a lake, in the woods hunting deer, or on a road trip with his wife Wendy.

If you knew Dave, you knew he was a tough guy with a stubborn streak. Once a Marine, always a Marine. But you also knew he was a generous person who took the time to help friends and strangers alike. Many times Dave stopped for a hitchhiker or stranded motorist to ensure they got the help they needed.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his sister, Juanita Semelsberger; and son, James Jimmy" Case.

Dave will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Wendy Case; daughter, Nicole (David) Bonner; sons, David (Jessie) Case, Paul Case, and Brandon Logan; siblings, Barbara Chelewski, Jimmie Bennett, Patty House, Judy Holland; grandchildren, Derek Bonner, Trevor Bonner, and Jesse James Case; great-grandchildren, Myles Bonner and Raelyn Case; brother-in-law, Jimmy Skinner; many nieces and nephews including special nephew, Jimmy Fleming and special niece, Kimberly (Reese) Davis. He also leaves many friends including lifelong friends, Mark, Kevin, and Glen. Dave will also be missed by his beloved cat, Willie.

Dave will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with a brief service at 2:45 pm on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Family and friends should arrive at the cemetery between 2:15-2:30 pm.
