David B. "Papa" Hampton
David B. "Papa" Hampton, 64, of Akron, passed away on September 19, 2015 after a fifteen year battle. David was born on December 23, 1950 in Dayton, Ohio. Dave retired in 2000 from Bridgestone/Firestone. Dave was successful at whatever task he set for himself. He was a gifted electrician, journeyman plumber, teacher, and had a passion for playing pool.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, William and Clara Hampton and his beloved dog, Pupi. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 44 years, Barbara; children, Diana (Jim) Phister and David (Dawn) Hampton; grandchildren, Matt, David, and Drew; brothers, John (Pam) and Jimmy Hampton; sisters, Elaine Beason and Maureen (Jack) Earlenbaugh; sister-in-law, Anita (Chris) Tyson; many special nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A celebration of Dave's life will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 6-9 p.m. at Parkside Church, 4520 S. Arlington Rd., Uniontown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 7996 Darrow Rd, Twinsburg, OH 44087.
