Daniel T. Kellar, 63, of Akron, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his beloved family on October 28, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong Akron resident, he was born on November 21, 1961 and graduated from Ellet High School in 1980.
Danny dedicated more than 30 years of his life to the roofing trade, taking great pride in his work. A longtime member of Roofers Local Union 88, he retired from Terik Roofing, where he was one of the founding journeymen.
Danny was a devoted family man who cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren, and loved ones. Known as "Papa" to his grandchildren, he was always there with love and support. Danny enjoyed coaching his son's baseball team over the years and was affectionately known as "Coach Dan" by the players. He was also a loyal fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, and enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. Danny was a devoted Christian throughout his life, serving as a prayer warrior for many.
Danny had a remarkable ability to brighten any room with his positive outlook. He loved to joke around and always brought a smile to those around him, quick with a witty remark or playful teasing. His sense of humor, sharp wit, and mischievous spirit were a big part of who he was, and they will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Anna Kellar; and brother, John Kellar.
Danny will be deeply missed by his children, Ray (Tiffany) Kellar, Aaron (Kelsey) Kellar, and Rachel Kellar; grandchildren, Raymond, Ava, Gabe, Jessie, Peyton, Kennedy, and Owen; loving ex-wife, Chris Kellar (Kevin Stahl); siblings, Dearreald “Dave” (June) Kellar, Martin (Shelly) Kellar, Lawrence (Chris) Kellar, and Marilyn (Kent) Nestlerode; and many friends and loved ones.
Visitation will take place at Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron on Saturday November 8, 2025 from 12pm until 2pm. A funeral service for Danny will begin at 2pm.
The Kellar family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Crossroads Hospice and the staff at Barberton Hospital Oncology for their exceptional care and compassion over the past few years.
Memorial donations can be made in Danny’s memory to children’s cancer research.
