Cynthia Kaye Tyson, known to friends and family as Cindy, passed away peacefully at her residence on June 21, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on November 5, 1957, in Akron, Ohio, Cindy’s life was marked by compassion, dedication, and a spirited embrace of life’s journey.
Cindy was a proud native of Akron, where her roots remained close to her heart throughout her life. Her career as a nurse exemplified her selfless nature and commitment to the well-being of others. For 24 years, she served at Akron General Medical Center, providing expert care and comfort to countless patients. After her long tenure at the hospital, she took her caring spirit on the road as a Traveling Nurse, supporting those in need of medical attention across various communities. Later, she concluded her career at Pinnacle Nursing Facility, retiring after a lifetime of devoted service. Cindy’s compassion touched the lives of so many, and she will be remembered by colleagues, patients, and friends for her unwavering dedication.
Beyond her professional achievements, Cindy found fulfillment and joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid gardener, nurturing her plants with the same care she gave to those around her. The beach was a place of true happiness for Cindy—a retreat where she could embrace the serenity of the waves and the warmth of the sun.
Cindy is survived by loving friends, Teresa Pierce, Sherry, and Beth; cousins, Kenny (Eleanor) and Gail (Lee); and special lifelong friends, The Vincent family, who will treasure the memories they had with her.
In honor of Cindy, a memorial service with Rev. Teresa Pierce officiating will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Community Gospel Tabernacle, 181 E. State St., Barberton, Ohio 44203.
