Cynthia Sue Somerville

Cynthia Sue Somerville, 63, of Akron, passed away on October 22, 2026. Known to family and friends as Cindy, she was born on February 21, 1963 to Tarvin "Sonny" and Ruth Somerville, the youngest of four children. Cindy graduated from Stow High School in 1981. She attended Tennessee Temple College and Kent State University before earning her business degree from Malone College.

Cindy moved to Tucson, Arizona in 2000 and made it her home until 2024 when she returned to Akron to be close to family. While in Tucson, she spent many years as a Human Resources Officer for Aviva Children's Services and eventually retired from Broadpath.

In her free time, Cindy loved to crochet. She made numerous beautiful afghans that are cherished by family members and the children she met through Aviva. She was also a talented writer and published several novels under a pen name.

Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Sonny Somerville; and brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Kathy Somerville.

She will be dearly missed by her mother, Ruth Somerville; sister, Cheryl Somerville; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Janet Somerville; nieces and nephews, Matthew, Nathaniel, Kyle, Eric, Adria, and April and their families; and many friends.

Per Cindy's wishes, no formal services will be held. Her family will celebrate her life privately.
