Colleen A. Ahart, age 94, of Tallmadge, passed away on May 22, 2025. She was born on February 26, 1931 to the late Homer and Bernice (Filley) Carter in Haydenville, OH. Her hometown of Haydenville was the last company town in Ohio. Colleen was a graduate of Logan High School.
She found love and was happily married to Alfred. Together they built a beautiful life and they were blessed with two sons. Colleen and Al were married 64 years before his passing in 2015.
Colleen received her hot air balloon pilot license at age 55. She and Al were also avid western style square dancers.
Colleen worked as a clerk for the Board of Elections before her retirement. She also worked at the Tallmadge YWCA for many years, holding many different positions during her time there. She was even in charge of the pool area despite her inability to swim.
She and Al were faithful members of Tallmadge United Methodist Church, Colleen attended for over 60 years.
Colleen is survived by her son, Thom Ahart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Al; son, Timothy Ahart; and brothers, Ray and Ned Carter.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305) on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 4pm until 6pm. Her Funeral Service will be held the following day on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Tallmadge United Methodist Church (207 N Munroe Rd, Tallmadge, OH 44278) at 12pm with Rev. Scott Lowe officiating.
