Clyde W. Tate, Sr., 82, of Akron, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014. He was born in Gassaway, Tennessee on July 30, 1931 to the late Medford and Luzettia Tate. Clyde proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of many organizations throughout the years and Master Mason with Wadsworth Masonic Lodge #385. Clyde worked as a local truck driver and retired from the Teamsters Union after 35 years.
In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by Sister, Patricia and Grandson, Jason.
He is survived by Daughter, Sherry (Thomas) Skinner, Son, Ernest Roy Tate, Son, Clyde W. Tate Jr., Sister, Louise Westfall, Brother, Willie Tate, Sister, Althea Liedel, Grandchildren, Stephanie and Jamie, many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, OH 44305. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm at Woodbury Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St, Woodbury, TN 37190 with a graveside service to follow at Riverside Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family through the Newcomer Funeral Home.
