Cleotha Johnson
Cleotha Johnson, 78, of Akron, passed away April 11, 2014. He was born March 11, 1936 in Athens, Louisiana to the late Leslie and Mabel (Kinsey) Johnson. Cleotha loved playing cards, going to the casinos and racetracks, and playing the lottery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother S. J. Johnson; sister, Louidell Burns; niece, Jan Burns; and special friend, Michalene "Mikki" White. He will be deeply missed by his loving children, Beneice Holmes, Leophus Johnson, Leslie Johnson, Richard Johnson, and their mother, Emma Benoit; loving daughter, Kim Waters (Gary Harwell); loving bonus children, Melvin Johnson II (Stefanie Santos), Dasha Smitherman, Tiffany Wright, Damon (Nicole) Miller, Chante (Jerry) Colley, Robert (April) White; loving siblings, Lettie Bradford, Odessa Frazier, Adell Johnson, Leslie (Helen) Johnson, McClinton (Mary) Johnson; loving brother-in-law, Virgil (Anita) Brown; loving nephews, DeQuinton Harrison and Robin "Arkie" Rice; twenty-two loving grandchildren; twenty loving great-grandchildren; many other loving nieces and nephews. He also leaves his special friend, Varetta Smitherman and the Howe Street family. The family would like to thank the Coronary Care Unit at Summa Akron City, Dr. Kenneth Kretchmer and staff, Dr. Erika Sobolewski and staff, Dr. Kevin Silver and staff for all their loving care.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 16 from 11-12 followed by a 12:00 p.m. memorial service with Bishop Kevin Strickland officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron.
