Clarence “Ted” Marcum

April 23, 1937 – December 2, 2025

Clarence “Ted” Marcum, 88, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025. Born April 23, 1937, in Crum, West Virginia, to Anna and Dennis Marcum, Ted lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to family.

He was married to the love of his life, Margaret “Peg” Marcum, for 62 wonderful years. Together, they built a home filled with warmth and kindness.

Ted is survived by his daughter, Tara Costanzo; son, Mark (Julie) Marcum; grandchildren, Nikole (Bo) Kennedy, Thomas Marcum, Dakota (Michael) Rice, Colton (Emily) Costanzo, and Steven (Jane) Marcum; and great-grandchildren Aubrey, Robert, Everett, Avery, Marshall, Casen, and Bennett. He is also survived by his sisters Juanita Fluty, Anita Botzer, Beulah (Jerry) O’Connor; sister-in-law Diane Marcum; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Peg; siblings Stella Marcum, Grace (Gene) Sammons, Hubert (Eileen) Marcum, James (Saundra) Marcum, Donald Marcum, Niza (Will) Blackburn, Christine (John) Fluty, Frank Marcum; and brother-in-law Calvin Fluty.

Ted worked at McNeil Akron and later as a painter for Spoonster (Terry) Painting and Dave Long. Known for his strong work ethic and generous spirit, he was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Ted loved his family deeply and cherished the time spent at his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was an avid fan of Ohio State Buckeyes football and basketball, Cleveland Guardians (always called them Indians) baseball, and enjoyed golfing, reading, and listening to bluegrass music. He had a gift for storytelling, often laughing before he could finish—and found joy in simple pleasures like watching The Andy Griffith Show and spending time with his dogs, Kilo and Bailey.

Ted’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering support for those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held Tuesday December 9th from 10-11 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home and funeral services will begin at 11 AM in the funeral home. Final resting place is Crown Hill Cemetery.

Everyone attending is invited to dress casual or in your favorite Ohio State clothing.
