Clarence L. Smith

Clarence L. Smith, adoring and loving husband went to rest in the arms of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 7, 2026. Smitty was born August 16, 1940 in Akron, Ohio of Floyd A. Smith and Violet G. (Carlson) Smith. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Army, served as a Police Officer in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio and retired from Kent State University after 37 years of service there.

He loved the Lord and fellowship with his Church Family. His kind, gentle and giving nature drew people to him.

His greatest joy was spending time with his Granddaughters laughing, joking, and being ornery and just plain silly. He loved spending time with family, friends and the members of our Church family. He also loved spending time talking to friends who we met at the campground where we have a seasonal campsite. He will be remembered fondly and missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Joanne (O’Hara) Smith, son Wayne Smith (Linda) and granddaughters Abby Smith and Emma Smith, Brother Dennis A. Smith (Susan), Sister Gloria Moffit and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Violet Smith, Brothers Wayne Smith, Floyd A. Smith, Harold C. Smith and Sister Lois J. Kirk.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 8, 2026 at Connect Church 578 Killian Rd. Akron Ohio 44319. Visitation with family and friends will begin at 11:00 am to 12:00pm with the service to begin at 12:00 pm.

A military burial with be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with a date to be determined.
