Charlotte E. (nee Sommer) Haar, 66, passed away peacefully February 20, 2014 with her dear friend Mary "Liz" Mason by her side. She was born in Akron where she lived most of her life. Charlotte graduated from North High School in 1966 and became a truck driver for numerous companies. Charlotte loved spending time with her friends and Alumni. She loved going to the Monthly Alumni Dinners along with her Service Dog and would take her everywhere. At the dinners she would be seen feeding Fannie Mae Farkle out of a small plastic cup she would carry with her. Whatever she ate her baby would enjoy the same meal. She was always a very generous person and could be considered to be a second mom to many with all her stories from her younger days at school. Her advice to the younger Alumni can still be heard by many. She is survived by her son Patrick, and numerous dear friends.
A very special thank you to her loving caregiver, Sandi Vincent whose "special love" touched Charlotte and all our hearts. Sandi also moved Charlotte into her home to maintain her living conditions. Charlotte was a very happy outgoing person. Most of all, during her life she loved the North High web site, Group, and Alumni. No matter what was going on, Charlotte would always drop everything to help a fellow school mate. She loved everything about her High School Alma mater. Thank you to all of Charlotte's friends from North High School who made donations to help with her final expenses.
