Charles Leroy Staton, 86, of Stow, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on April 17, 2026. He was born on June 23, 1939 in Akron, Ohio to John W. Staton and Doris Vergene “Jean” Farley.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack Staton, and sister, Nelda Gregory.
Charles was an Airman Second Class in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1956-1961. He retired from Chrysler in Twinsburg, Ohio in 1997.
He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Acker-Moore Memorial Post in Stow, Ohio. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Indians.
Charles leaves behind a great legacy.
He is survived by daughters, Doris Calmese (Ohio), Jean (Mike) Sossa (Ohio); grandchildren, Ryan (Anna) Broman, Trisha (Rusty) Cerveny, and great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Wyatt.
Son, James (April) Staton (Ohio), grandchildren, John Staton, Jack Staton, Angela (Ryan) Evans, and great-grandchildren, Melody and Ryla.
Grandson, Joel (Danielle) Covender and great-granddaughter, Claire; granddaughter, Amber (Dan) Lough and great-grandchildren, Keily and Lilith.
Grandson, Joshua Slone, and great-grandchildren, Jeriah and Dominic.
Daughter, MaryAnn (Gary) Hoffman (Florida); grandchildren, Daniel (Paula) Hoffman; and great-grandchildren, Alice and Mika.
Grandson, Michael (Miranda) Hoffman; and great-granddaughter, Avalynn.
Granddaughter, Rebecca (Cody) Wilkinson; and great-grandson, Cole.
Son, Giovanni (Melissa) Utzelli (Ohio); granddaughter, Heather (Cody) Gumm; and great-granddaughters, Miley and Delilah.
As well as many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and well-deserved military honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery (Seville, Ohio) at a future date.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Summa Hospice “Red Team” (Melissa, Sam, Connie, Emmett, and Dr. Dhital) for their care and compassion to Charles and his family.
