Charles "Chuck" DeWitt, Sr.
Charles "Chuck" Dewitt, Sr., 73, of Akron, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 21, 2014. Chuck was born in Barberton, OH on October 24, 1941 to the late Leslie and Ann Dewitt. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who devoted his life to his family. His greatest love was fishing with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his brother, Carl. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Virginia; children, Charles (Carol) Dewitt, Jr., Lori Dewitt Riley, Shannon Johnson, and Jeff (Amy) Dewitt; eight brothers; three sisters; sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Chuck was also loved and will be missed by many other extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be TODAY, Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 11-1 followed by a 1:00 p.m. funeral service with Pastor Barry Creekmore officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of VNS, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333 or the ALS Association, PO Box 6051, Albert Lea, MN 56007.
