Charles C. Smith
Charles C. Smith (Chuck) loving father, grandfather and brother, age 81 of Akron, Ohio went home to be with the LORD December 24, 2015. Charles was a retired Roadway Express truck driver with many years of meritorious service and recipient of the two-million mile safe driver award. Mr. Smith was a veteran of The United States Air Force and served as jet mechanic during the Korean conflict.
He was preceded in death by wife, Joanne (Greathouse) Smith, father Daniel Webster Smith, mother, Mamie Idella (Boyer) Smith; brothers Lincoln, Chet and Daniel and sisters Margaret Mays, Wilma Saffles, Arlis Murrell, Doris Blair, Marion Leffel, Harriet Ellis and Alma Tonkin.
Chuck is survived by a daughter and four sons: Yvonne (James) Goins, Charles C. Smith, Jr., Daniel Steven Smith, Kevin Leroy (Roxana) Smith, Spencer A. (Chip) Smith and three sisters Ethel Austin, Della Lemmon and Audrey Dodds. Chuck leaves five loving grandchildren, Christa Mitchell, Aaron Smith, Bradley Smith, Amanda (Drake) Rising, Heather (Matt) Moran and great-grandson Dominic Cole Rising, as well as two step-grandchildren, Angela Taylor and Nicole Ortiz.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday December 30, 2015 from 4-7pm with the funeral service to begin at 7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305.
