Charles Bud Smith was born in New York City, NY on April 27, 1940 to the late Charles T. and Martha Smith. He passed away suddenly, Sunday June 7, 2026.
Charles was a lifelong New York City Sanitation Officer, and dedicated to the City in which he lived and worked. During this time he met his best friends, Dennis “Duke” and Connie. They were lifelong friends who looked out for each other and did many things together. Connie let everyone know that Charles was always available to help with any problem and had a heart for helping people. Dennis and Charles rode motorcycles together numerous times, across the United States. Charles was very generous to family, as well. He brought his nephew, Scott on a trip around the USA visiting the National Parks for a whole summer. He was known for his grit and tenacity and loved to go shopping, bringing gifts for his loved ones. In retirement, Charles dabbled and was successful in starting several small businesses.
He will be missed by his loving nephew, Scott Grieshammer (Lorraine) of Cuyahoga Falls Ohio, his great nieces, Natalie Patrick (Benjamin) of Akron Ohio, Victoria Benadada (Abdellah) of Raleigh, North Carolina, his best friends, Dennis “Duke” Gormley of Brooklyn NY, and Constance Gentile of Brooklyn, NY and many other lives that he has touched throughout his long life.
Charles will have a privately inurned service at Holy Cross Cemetery with Father Chris Zerucha, St. Mary’s Parish, Akron OH officiating, at a later date. May beloved Charles rest eternally in God’s peace.
