Catherine A. Kenny, (“Kay”,”Aunt”),103 (and a half) years old, passed away peacefully inTallmadge, Ohio,on October 25, 2025 in the company of her lucky family.

Kay was born on April 21, 1922 in New York ,NY to Joseph and Amanda Gardner. She experienced grief early in life with the loss of her father at the age of 10. She perfected her role as caregiver and big sister during this time. She was blessed with the nurturing of her maternal grandmother, Katherine Ryan, to whom she held great affection. She enjoyed her childhood in Forest Hills, NY with her sisters Mary and Dottie. The family spent relaxing summers in Huntington, LINY with her mother and adoptive father, Gene Moran.

Kay graduated from Grover Cleveland HS in 1940 and was a civil servant within the NYC Accounts Payable department. Kay married Peter G.Kenny, Gerry, on March 6, 1960 in SINY.The couple retired to Miramar, FL in 1967. They enjoyed the Florida sunshine and their proximity to the Bosse family. They were active volunteers in their church community and beloved in their neighborhood.Aunt was a treasure to the neighborhood children, her door always open and sweet treats always handy. Her kindness and generous spirit helped foster lasting relationships, especially with Pam Dorta and her girls.

Upon Gerry’s passing in 1976, Kay forged an independent new path. She learned to drive and gained employment at Hillcrest Condominiums. She greeted visitors at the front desk with her signature charm and endeared herself to the residents, She later moved to Port St. Lucie, FL where she took a similar job at the Savanna Club community and grew her fan base. She returned to South Florida in 2004 where she enjoyed spending time once again with her sister Dottie and family, and Marjorie and her girls.

The role of Aunt (ANT) was her most defining. She was simply everybody’s favorite, and with good reason! Family was the most important to her and she cherished every moment spent together. She loved to dine out and stubbornly fought to grab the bill. She liked her beef rare and her hot dogs cremated. She enjoyed a tour of Italy, a Margarita or a big glass of Sangria, “butter, butter, butter” on her baked potato and of course, at least one dessert! She was kind, generous and smarter than she ever gave herself credit for! She had an uncanny ability to create connection and to say the right thing at the right time. Whether you knew her for a day or a lifetime, you immediately fell in love with her!

At age 99 (and a half) she left broken hearts in FL as she relocated to Ohio for her final years. She was the best roomie ever to Cathy and Regis Duffy who were privileged to spend precious time with her. She delighted all who met her with her playful nature and sunny disposition.

Kay’s loving spirit will be greatly missed by her numerous surviving family members of the Kenny, Bosse and O’Shaughnessy families. She has adoring nieces and nephews galore, scattered throughout the country! She touched countless lives, including the Dorta family, who shared in her vibrant life and cherished her love and friendship.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Gerry Kenny, parents Joseph Gardner and Amanda Gardner Moran, adoptive father Gene Moran, stepchildren Una Amarosa and Eddie Kenny, sisters Dottie Pagliarello and Mary O’Shaughnessy and special niece Jeanmarie Applequist. Many other loved ones in her extended family( too numerous to list here) surely welcomed her into her heavenly home! There’s no doubt, a grand celebration upon her arrival in heaven occurred! Aunt created a legacy of love we shall forever cherish and hope to continue. Always remember and never forget; “SHE LOVED YOU MORE”

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, November 15th at 11:30 am at St. Bonaventure Church, Davie, FL with Rev. Fr. Edmond Prendergast officiating. Many thanks to OLV parish and Linda T. in Tallmadge, Ohio. Aunt greatly appreciated Linda's ministry and sharing of faith!
