Carole A. Gillespie

Carole Ann Gillespie, 89, of Tallmadge, passed away on August 4, 2026.

She was born on December 26, 1936 to Elmer and Sophia (Cross) Middelton in Xenia, OH. She was the youngest of four sisters.

On August 21, 1953, she married Joseph L. Gillespie. They were married for 64 years until Joseph's passing in 2017.

Carole was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church of Akron, where she was a choir member for many years. She enjoyed crafts, ceramics, and spending time with her grand daughter.

Carole is survived by her children, Timothy Gillespie and Deborah (Jason) McHenry; grand daughter, Halle Jewels (Ryan) Maxwell; and 14 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; parents, Elmer and Sophia Middleton; sisters, Betty Popp, Mary Alice Pollock, and Dorothy Wells.

The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at Danbury Woods and CorsoCare for all their special care during Carole's final days.

There will be a private graveside ceremony for the family.
