Carole Lee Eldridge

Carole Lee Eldridge, 79, of Akron, passed away peacefully at her home on July 27, 2026 with her family by her side. She was born on September 21, 1946 in Morrisdale, Pennsylvania to the late Sherman and Hilda (Crowell) Smeal. She graduated from West Branch High School. Carole met and married John Eldridge after high school before moving to Akron, Ohio to be close to family.

Carole found employment at Logan Machine Co. and was a dedicated employee for thirty years. In later years, she worked at a kidney dialysis clinic and as a home health aide.

Carole will always be remembered for her kind and generous spirit. Although she lived on a fixed income, she faithfully supported worthy causes such as St. Jude Children's Hospital, Camp Freedom, the Shriner's, local food banks, and Wounded Warriors. She was quick to help out family and friends in need as well. She was an excellent cook and her macaroni salad will be missed.

Carole was devoted to her family. She loved trips to Pennsylvania to spend time with her sister as well as family meals and holidays. She had beautiful eyes, a warm smile, and the best laugh. She gave great hugs too.

In addition to her parents, Carole was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Smeal; and children, Patricia and David Eldridge.

Carole will be dearly missed by her daughter, Anna (James Sr.) Chaney; sister, Shirley Harvey; grandchildren, Silver (V) Chaney, James Chaney Jr., and Jacob (Star) Chaney; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 4-6 p.m., followed by a 6:00 p.m. funeral service with Rev. Robert Eldridge officiating at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44305. Carole will be laid to rest on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Palestine Cemetery, 4242 Schoonover Rd., Morrsidale, PA.
