In Loving Memory of Carl D. Wood
Carl D. Wood, a devoted husband, proud father, and loyal friend, passed away unexpectedly on September 22, 2025 at the age of 58.
Born on Jan 23, 1967 in Medina, Ohio, Carl lived a life defined by generosity, hard work, and a heart that never stopped giving. Whether he was lending a helping hand to a neighbor or quietly going the extra mile for family and friends, he embodied kindness and integrity in all he did.
A man of many passions, Carl loved nothing more than gathering with friends for a lively poker game and spending time around fast cars —especially classic and vintage muscle cars. He found joy in the roar of an engine, the craftsmanship of a well-kept ride, and the camaraderie that came with sharing those moments with the people he loved.
Carl spent 28 years as a dedicated renovation specialist, known for his strong work ethic and the respect he earned from colleagues and friends alike. At home, his greatest joy was being a loving husband to Gina and a proud father to Joey and James. His gentle guidance, warm laughter, and unwavering support will be forever remembered.
He is survived by his wife Gina; sons, Joseph Carl Wood and James Allen Wood; sisters, Ina Wilson, Laurri Hoyle and Corri Gobin; brothers, Todd and Scott Wood; grandsons, Keegan Wood and James Wood Junior; a host of nieces and nephews; as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his sister, Andrea Karl.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Carl’s life on October 3, 2025 from 4-6pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N Canton Rd. Akron, OH, 44305.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Habitat For Humanity in his honor.
Carl’s life was a testament to love, generosity, and perseverance. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
