Billie Moore, born July 6, 1935 in Jewel Ridge, VA, passed away on April 2, 2014, at home, surrounded by family, after an 8 year battle with Alzheimer's.
Billie came to Akron and found work at Parker Hannifin Co. where he retired from in January of 1998, with 44 years of service. His favorite pastime after retirement was playing solitaire, eating out, and working in the yard, until the disease took that away from him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James "Frosty" and Ocie May (Shell) Moore; brothers, Terry, Benny (wife, Florence), Jim (wife, Martha); sisters, Sue McConnell (husband, Glenn), and Margaret Thomas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie (Wright) Moore; son, Randy (Lisa) Moore, of Akron; daughter, Patricia King (fiancée, Jeff), of Stoystown, PA; brother, Robert (Christine) Moore, of Oakwood, VA; sister, Jean (Jerry) Doan, of Atwater, OH; grandchildren, Katie and Ryan King, of Shanksville, PA and Ben and Shane Moore, of Akron; also, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to thank Guardian Angel Hospice for all the loving care given to Billie, and the support and encouragement given to the family.
Calling hours will be Sunday, 2-5 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m., with Pastor Joe Frank officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
