Billie C. Chance, 92, of Akron, passed away peacefully on May 4,2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 18 1934, in Waverly ,Tenn. He retired from Karder machine after working in Hughes Tool as a foreman for many years as well as Gensco. He was also very proud to have worked in California as a young man building massive spaceship playground equipment. Billie had a deep love for life and lived it to the fullest. Whether he was swimming, fishing, tending to his garden, or spending time with his family, he was always on the move. Above all else, he was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved.
A skilled machinist for most of his life, Billie was also known as an exceptional mechanic by everyone that knew him. He continued this well into his later years, always willing to lend a hand or share his knowledge. His vegetable garden was another passion of his that brought him comfort, often reminding him of his beloved parents, whom he missed dearly.
Billie will be remembered most for his kind and gentle heart, his unwavering loyalty to family and friends , and the love and warmth he shared so freely with those around him.
He will be remembered by his beloved companion Janet Kinley; His children Deborah Price (Bruce) Billie Chance, Tammy Caldwell (James), and Angela Chance Smith,(Rob); His beloved bonus children Diane Owen, John Kinley, (Cindy); A sister Sally Phipps; As well as many cherished grandchildren,great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; And his beloved cat Otis.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Lorna Chance; Sons Billie C. Chance Jr. Robert Chance and Danny Chance; Grandchildren Billie C. Chance lll, Felicia Chance, Richard Smith Jr., Justin Smith; Son-in-law Dan Owen; Loving parents Homer and Mary Ellen Chance; Sisters Frances Walter, Doretha Brunty, Maisie Chance(infant); and Brothers Muriel ,Murray , James D., James V.
Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm, Thursday, May 14th at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be held at 1:00pm with Pastor Stephen Neumeyer officiating.
