Betty M. Powe

Betty M. Powe, age 71, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, at Akron City Hospital. Born on November 9, 1953, she was the cherished daughter of Rasberry and Harriet (Hubbard) Powe and a graduate of Buchtel High School.

Betty devoted many years working for Goodwill Industries before her retirement. In her free time, she found joy in shopping. Betty also loved each moment spent with her family and friends.

Betty is survived by her beloved children, Terrell Powe and Deanna R. Powe (Truss-Ramsey); her grandchildren, DeNae Truss, DeGrafth Palmore, Ronald Williams, DaVae Jackson, Michael Tyler Jr., and Carter Blake; her siblings, Billy, Barbara, Janice Powe, and Brenda James; as well as her significant other, Roosevelt Grubbs, and his family. She will also be remembered fondly by numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents, Mr. Peter and Callie Rice.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Greater Peace Baptist Church (823 Vernon Odom Blvd, Akron, OH 44307) on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The visitation will begin at 11 AM, followed by her funeral service at 12 PM, officiated by Pastor Mary Palmer from Ebenezer Apostolic Assembly Church. Everyone is welcome to join in a repass following the service to honor her memory.

Betty will be laid to rest at Mount Peace Cemetery (183 Aqueduct St, Akron, OH 44303) with the date to be announced.
