Betty J. Recco, 91, of Akron, passed away December 20, 2014. She was born in Greentown, OH on December 28, 1922 to the late Winfield and Esther Humbert. Betty had a full life. She worked as a Rosie the Riveter during the war and mainly devoted herself to raising her family. She was an excellent cook and everyone enjoyed her spaghetti sauce and Christmas cookies. She enjoyed shopping, bingo, puzzles, WordFind books, and game shows. She loved to travel and spent many wonderful family vacations in Holden Beach, NC.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam Recco; her parents; seven siblings; and granddaughter, Leah Marie Recco. She will be deeply missed by her children, Sam "Patcho" Recco Jr., Dolores Glaze Grimes, Pauline Clem (Mike), Roberta Adkins (Gary), and Frank Recco (Karen); grandchildren, Tina Booth, Tony Recco (Tommie), Michael Clem, Bobbi Usko (Joe), Paul Clem, Sam Clem, Cassi Grizer (Shane), Sean Adkins (Shanna), Sage Recco, and ETSA(SU) Mason Recco; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Betty's family.
