Betty Fricke

Betty Fricke, 81, of Akron passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015. She was born in Akron, Ohio on March 27, 1934 to the late Lauren and Elizabeth Hudson.

Betty had a passion for singing and sang professionally with groups such as, The Akron Pops Orchestra, The Dick Roop Trio, The Frankie Reynolds Orchestra and Ed Marini and kept on singing right up until the end every Friday night at Mulberry Gardens. She also worked at Goodyear and the Akron Hilton West.

She was a wonderful cook, wonderful lady who was loved by all who knew her and enjoyed spending time with family and friends and great times with neighbors from Alaho St. and Autumn Meadows.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Francis Fricke; uncle, Eddie (Dorothy) Zapor; aunt Stefania (Frank) Gabalac.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 59 years as of Tuesday, May 5, 2015 Walter; son, Scott (Rachel daughter-in-law extraordinaire); daughter, Christie (Mark) Andre`; grandchildren, Megan and Craig Andre`; sister, Loretta Hopper; sister-in-law, Tootsie Perren; nephew, Kim Perren; nieces, Renee (Eric) Mizer, Laura (Troy) Cox, Julie and Lynne Hopper and many great nieces and nephews; cousins, Eudora Zapor, Glenna (Joseph) Zinni, Duane (Jeannette) Zapor and Stephan Zapor; special friends, the Bower family.

The family wishes to extended a thank you to the staff at Mulberry Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 4, 2015 from 4pm to 7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N Canton Rd. Akron. Funeral services will be conduced in the funeral home on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 12:30pm with Deacon Frank Lontine officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 2:30pm.
