Basil Dean McGee

Basil Dean McGee, 84, passed away on May 9, 2025. He was born on August 18, 1940 the son of the late Basil and Susie McGee. Dean proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired after many years of dedicated service from Geon Performance Solutions. Dean was a past member of the FOP of Akron. He enjoyed woodworking. In his younger years he was well known within the Ohio drag racing community, winning many trophies.

He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 57 years, Carol McGee; and son David McGee.

Dean is survived by his dear friends and adoptive family, Michael and Karen Leffler and Karen and Joe Lorenz; Kristen (Josh) Seary, Kevin (Morgan) Leffler; and many dear friends at Cardinal Retirement Village.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 19th from 11:30am to 12:30pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where memorial services will be held at 12:30pm with Pastor Stephen Neumeyer officiating.
