Barbara E. Thomas

Barbara E. Thomas, 89, passed away peacefully at home on April 16, 2026 surrounded by her family. Born in Uniontown, PA to L. C. and Beatrice (Jeffrey) Dodson, she resided in the Akron area all of her adult life. Her passions in life were faith and family. She always enjoyed scrapbooking, her gospel music and teaching the missionettes at Evangel Temple (where she was a founding member). Barbara later attended Springfield Assembly of God for 15 years. She retired from Akron Public Schools, where she taught special education. Barbara also ran the kitchen at Darrell Thomas Auctions for 30 years.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her grandson, Aaron Thomas; grandaughter, Suzanne Thomas; sister, Elaine Eckbreth. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 66 years, Darrell Thomas; sons, Edward (Debbie) Thomas, Jerry (Tessie) Thomas, Jeff (Carrie) Thomas; grandchildren, Scott (Jen) Thomas, Ryan (Karissa) Thomas, Jerry Thomas, Julie Thomas, Josh Robles, Samantha (Tyler) Slaven, Cassie Lopp; great grandchildren, Evelynn, Lucca, Cameron, Corey, Katana, Scarlett, Charleigh, Harper, Marvin, Lillian, Destiny; special nephew, Jimmy (Kim) Eckbreth; other family and friends.

The family will have a celebration of Barbara's life at a later date. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Barbara's name to the Leukemia Society or the charity of their choice.
