Listen to Obituary

Barbara Lee Flynn, 79, of Uniontown, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 27, 2025. Barb was born on April 2, 1946 and grew up in Akron, Ohio, graduating from Kenmore High School in 1964. Barb moved to California with a girlfriend to take a job with PIE Trucking. Little did she know that as she was moving to California the man who would become the love of her life was moving from California to Akron. Their paths would not cross for a few more years.

In April of 1968, Barb was back in Ohio and her brother took her to a friend's home for a gathering. It was there that she met Ralph Flynn. It was love at first sight and they were married in November of that year. They were devoted to each other for 57 years, raising their family of three children in the Kenmore area.

Barb and Ralph were longtime members of The Chapel in Akron. For many years, Barb served as administrative assistant to Pastor Knute Larson. They made many friends at church who were just like family.

Barb always had an appreciation for the outdoors. She took a two or three mile walk daily, always accompanied by her beloved dog, Molly. She loved the ocean and made wonderful memories with family during vacations to Myrtle Beach and Florida. In recent years, she enjoyed peaceful days watching the deer and squirrels in her own backyard.

Barb's whole world was her family. She was a wonderful wife and mother and truly enjoyed being Grandma to her grandchildren. She attended all of their events and was their biggest supporter.

Barb's illness lasted for six months and she remained at peace throughout that time. Her faith in Christ carried her through her final days and she and her family were grateful that God spared her from any real pain. In this difficult time, her family finds comfort in the word of God, particularly the following verses:

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing." Second Timothy 4:7-8

"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." Second Corinthians 5:8

"And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died." First Thessalonians 4:13-14

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas Wiggington, Mildred Wiggington Cox, and Paul Cox; and brother, Robert Wiggington.

She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Ralph E. Flynn II; children, Ralph E. Flynn III (Shaelene), Heather Gleespen (Ryan), and David Flynn (Krista); 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald Cox (Joyce); and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Barb's life will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 6:00 pm with visitation from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at The Chapel in Green, 1800 Raber Rd., Uniontown, OH 44685. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Glioblastoma Foundation.
