B. Joanne Penrod, 88, passed away on July 8, 2014.
She was born in Uhrichsville, OH to the late Albert E. Hess and Elizabeth Smith Hess Crowe. Joanne was a member of the Mogadore Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. "Fritz" Penrod, Jr.; great-granddaughter, Katherine E. McVey; siblings, Paul E., Robert, Jay, and Jack Hess, Howard Crowe, Vivian Gaston, and Shirley A. Gibson.
Survivors include son, Charles E. (Loretta) Penrod; daughters, Denise (Dennis) Somerville and Kristol (Gary) Smith; grandchildren, Paula (Wayne) McVey, C.C. (Amanda) Penrod, Maggie (Shawn) George, Amber (Justin) Somerville-Carroll, Charles Somerville, Monica (Antonio) Ramos, and Matthew Smith; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles A. (Sheryl) Crowe, George (Jan) Hess, and Albert Hess; and numerous in-laws, loved ones, and friends.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, 12 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Mogadore. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mogadore Christian Church, 106 S. Cleveland Ave., Mogadore, OH 44260.
