Audrey Jean Harris, 74, passed away on June 16, 2025. She was born on July 7, 1950 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Albert and Janet Goldstein. She was brought up in the Jewish religion and converted over to Christianity. She lived most of her life in the Brunswick area. One of Audrey's first job was when she was 17 yrs old working in the diner on 55th & Euclid in Cleveland for a while, when she was fired for flirting with a handsome customer. The customer soon became the love of her life, they were married for 52 yrs.
Audrey retired from St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland as a registered nurse in the ICU. She dedicated her life to helping and caring for others. At 5 years old she was diagnosed with Polio and was in the hospital for 3 months and had post polio symptoms but by determination and strong will she overcame many obstacles. Audrey had many gifts, Mensa International invited her to be in their organization with her 163 IQ but she humbly turned them down. Throughout her years, Audrey was known for her keen intellect, quick witted and vivid imagination. She loved to read mystery novels by Stephan King and her talent shone brightly through her own writing.
Beyond her literary contributions, Audrey touched the lives of many through her warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit. Her heart was focused on helping others and putting them before herself. She raised many children who she loved like family and was also known as “MaMa Harris”.
She leaves behind a legacy of creativity and unwavering dedication and love to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband James R. Harris; daughter Melinda Harris-Warner; and siblings Richard Goldstein and Diane Noretsky.
Audrey is survived by her children David (Christina) Harris, Sharon Harris, Tiffany Lopez, Jason Robertson, and Brian Kolin; grandchildren Carlos Lopez, Elijah Lopez, Daisy Lopez, and Taylor Minton; siblings Frank (Nancy) Goldstein, Alan (Stephanie) Goldstein, and Stephan (Cheryl) Goldstein; nieces & a nephew and friends.
Visitation will be held 11:00am to 1:00pm., Friday, June 27th, at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron 44305).
Graveside will be held at 2:30 at Eastlawn Memory Garden (2869 Grafton Rd., Brunswick).
