Arlen Ray Schartiger, 95, of Uniontown, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Richwood, WV on December 21, 1930 (older than the hills), to the late Emery and Bessie {Bailey} Schartiger. Arlen lived a very busy and fulfilled life. Retiring from Teledyne Monarch Rubber and Green Local Schools, he would tell ya “I worked more years than I been alive”.
In addition to his parents, Arlen is preceded in death by his beloved wife Maria, their daughters Suzy Monroe and Betty West, grandson Frank Kocis and daughter-in-law Linda Schartiger.
Arlen is survived by his children, Robert Schartiger, John (Shunetta) Schartiger, and Maggie Schartiger; brother-in-law, Frank (Cynthy) Mandl; brother Charles (Imogene) Schartiger; many nieces and nephews and extended WV family; grandchildren, Micheal, Rob, Viki, Kristie, Jamie, Tony, Kevin, Bradley, Jerod and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his long-time dear friend John Marchok.
A celebration of Arlen's life will be held at the John Torok Community & Senior Center (4224 Massillon Rd, North Canton (Green), OH 44720) on Sunday, September 6th between 3:00 and 8:00 p.m., with well-deserved Military Honors being presented PROMPTLY at 4pm, followed by a memorial service officiated by our dear family friend Matt “Bones” Johnson.
