Anthony Joseph Buffa, age 73, passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 28, 1952.
Anthony was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Buffa; his children, Laura, Michael, and Jason (Crystal); his sister, Tina (Jim) and his brother, Joe; and his cherished grandchildren Autaum, Joseph, Kaleb, Jason Jr., Anthony, Logan, Jordan, and Chloe. He was also a proud great-grandfather to McKenna, Jasper, Blaire, and Noellah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony John Buffa and Carmila “Millie” Buffa, and by his children Giovanni Buffa and Bettina Buffa, who passed away during infancy.
Anthony proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant (E-5). Following his military service, he continued his commitment to public service as a police officer, dedicating himself to protecting and serving his community.
After his law enforcement career, Anthony joined the family business at Buffa Foods, where he worked alongside loved ones before later transitioning to Northern Haserot. A testament to his dedication and strong work ethic, Anthony continued working up until the time he entered the hospital, never wavering in his sense of responsibility and pride in his work.
In his free time, Anthony found great joy in golfing, spending time at the shooting range, and creating lasting memories at amusement parks with his grandchildren-moments that will be treasured forever by those who loved him.
Visitation hours will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne St., Akron, Ohio 44312. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Procession to Hillside Memorial Park following the service.
Anthony will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, perseverance, and deep love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of service, dedication, and unconditional love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
