Angelina Reitz

Angelina Reitz, age 92 of Springfield Township, passed away September 1, 2016. She was born in South Fork, PA, June 14, 1924, the fourth daughter of the late Richard and Catherine Lentini Martin. She relocated to Akron during World War II and worked as a waitress and later worked at Goodyear Aircraft. She married Thomas Reitz December 1945 and followed him to California while he served in the US Navy. After his discharge in 1950 they returned to Akron and Thomas continued his career at Goodyear Aerospace. They settled in Springfield Township, and Angelina became a homemaker and supported her children and community through her activities as a PTA member and room mother at Roosevelt school. She served as a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother and band booster. She was employed by the Springfield Schools as a cafeteria worker in 1968, retiring in 1984. Tom and Ann instilled in their children a love of exploration through yearly vacations across the United States, they continued to travel during their retirement.
Angelina was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas P. Reitz, her daughter, Cyndee Jenkins; siblings Joseph, Angelo, and James all of South Fork, PA and Mary Mihalich of FL.
Celebrating her life are her children, Kathy and Kenneth Heil of North Canton and Tommy Reitz of Uniontown; her son-in-law, Larry Jenkins and his wife, Mary Thompson of Madison, WI;
grandchildren, Kenneth J. Heil of Houston TX, Katrina Heil Barton and her husband, Kevin of Jackson Twp., Keven Heil and his wife Kelly Gaul Heil of North Canton, Karl Heil and his wife Brenda Foltz Heil of North Canton, Thomas W. Reitz of TN, and Courtney Reitz and her fiancé, John Downey of North Canton, and Devon Brown of TN; five great great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kaden Barton, Marissa and Evan Heil, and Chandler Jernigan. Angelina is also survived by her siblings, Jenny Walukas of Northville, MI, Rose Ruud of Fargo, ND, Catherine "Honey" Schlabig of Akron, Sarah and her husband Al "Sonny" West of Chillicothe, IL, and Samuel and his wife Grace Martin of St. Michael, PA; sisters-in-law, Jean Martin and Tootsie Martin both of South Fork, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne Street, Akron 44312, on September 10 at 11:00 AM, where family and friends may gather one hour prior to Mass. Rev. Michael Williamson will celebrate Angelina's life. Angelina will be laid to rest with her husband in Hillside Memorial Park, Akron. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Angelina's memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation at msfocus.org/donate-in-honor.aspx or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, alzfdn.org/donation.
