Angelic Lorraine Franks born on October 19, 1970 in Oberlin, Ohio passed away June 13, 2025 at 9 A.M. after a long courageous battle with dementia. Angelic graduated from Kenmore High School, and Hammel Business College and later attended Kent State University. Ang was known to all her friends, family, employers, and teachers and anyone she meant as an outgoing, bubbly, and an energetic girl. Her smile brought happiness to everyone. The best job she said she ever had was being a mom to Jake and Linzi.
She became divorced and never remarried. She always worried about how she was going to give her children everything they needed. She loved them so much. Much of her life was a worry, covering it up so not to make Jake and Linzi worry. She struggled so much with jobs and just the stress she lived under as a single mom. She had been a stay at home mom, but now divorced and starting all over.
Angelic was intelligent, funny, and kind to anyone she came into contact with. She was an excellent student, cheerleader and later in high school took home and overall award of best cheerleader at NC State cheer-leading camp. When she wasn't cheering she was doing other sporting activities and twirling her baton. Her favorite activity was wanting to be a cheerleader and she started as a mascot at the age of 3 and always made the squads thanks to her ladybug she always kept in her shoes during try outs she said. During high school Ang and her friend Tanya tried out for the Cavs and made it to the last round. They looked at each other and said oh well it doesn't pay much and laughed.
She loved several musicians to include Jimmy Buffet, Rolling Stones, Sam Cooke, Bee Gees, Moody Blues, Journey to name a few. Her favorite vacation spots were Key West, Ft. Lauderdale, and Nags Head, NC.
Angelic is survived by her son Jacob Townsend; daughter Linzi Townsend; mother Erline Franks; brother Mark Franks (Virginia); and her only grandson Baker Gray, who she never got to see much or enjoy, or even knew he really existed. She is also survived by her father William Franks as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends.
Angelic is predeceased in death by her grandmother, Lottie Roose Gibson of Creston, OH and grandfather Earl Roose, of Medina, OH.
Visitation will be Friday 5-7 PM June 20th at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44305 and funeral services will be Saturday 11 AM June 21st at the funeral home.
