It is with a heavy heart and a deep sadness to announce that Andrew Kennedy, age 36 of Barberton Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on May 12, 2026.

Andrew graduated from Coventry High School in 2009. He was a member of the sons of the American Legion. He loved his family and friends. He had a big heart, was always volunteering to help set up for family, gatherings, parties, and events. He was a dedicated employee of McDonald’s and took pride in his work. Andrew was a devoted follower of Jesus and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barberton, where he was an active participant in the men’s bible study group.

Andrew was known for his big heart, caring nature, love for dogs and babies, having numerous pair of sunglasses, multiple variety of baseball caps and travel mugs, and bracelets.

Andrew was a loving and caring son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He will be tremendously missed and was loved by so many.

Andrew is preceded in death by his mother, Kim Wahl; nephew, James G. Kennedy; uncles, Rick Elkins, Ronald Kennedy; grandfather, Don Elkins; grandparents, James W. and Helen Kennedy; grandfather, Chuck Wahl, and his dog Rusty.

Andrew is survived by his father, James R. Kennedy; stepfather, Jack Wahl; grandmothers, Georgia Cope, Pat Elkins, Shirley Wahl; brother, James P. Kennedy; uncle, Scot (Gina) Elkins; aunts, Rhonda Elkins, Teri Elkins, Marlene Thornton; uncles, Dave (Ronda) Adams, Mike (Michelle) Adams; nephew Aidan Kennedy; his girlfriend and the love of his life, Ann Sands; numerous cousins, friends, and special friends, Sue Erwin, Cindy Strickland, Cindy Beck, Aaron, Zach and “Buddy” the dog he loved to dog sit.

Family and friends are invited to visit Tuesday, May 26, 2026 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will take place Wednesday, May 27 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Andrew's name to the First Baptist Church of Barberton or the American Legion Post 566.
