Listen to Obituary

After a miraculous 4-year-fight against Alzheimer’s and Dementia, Andrea “Andy” Tomaiko, 82, of Akron, Ohio, has passed away in her home the morning of Friday, September 12, 2025. She was surrounded by her son/primary caretaker, Chad Tomaiko, her granddaughter, Jada Romano, and daughter-in-law, Dustee. She also leaves behind her siblings. She will be reunited in the afterlife with her late husband, Paul Tomaiko, and her parents Andrew and Betty Rebarsky.

Born in 1942 to Andrew and Betty Rebarsky, Andrea grew up in Akron, Ohio and later graduated from Garfield High School in 1960. She spent her younger years helping raise her siblings, and later in life became head cashier at Acme Clicks, and also managed Taco Bell stores briefly. In her spare time, she took up the hobbies of cooking, gardening, painting, collecting antiques, and raising many Chow dogs. Andrea took pride in her ability to make a house into home, as she curated her and her husband’s home to what they would both dream of. While Andrea was generally a shy and quiet woman, she was sharp and had an intuition like no other. She will be greatly missed by her family, as they recall how big of an impact she made on holidays and family events with her extravagant decorating and meals, as well as everyday activities, such as playing board games or watching movies.

Per Andrea’s wishes, she will be cremated and kept with her granddaughter in Akron, and one day be taken to and spread in the oceans of California-as her senior quote says-”Let me drive!-to go to California."
