Alton "Bill" Cody

Alton E. "Bill" Cody, 81, passed away Thursday , October 16th 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born on December 3, 1932, in Bullock county, Alabama. He and his family moved to Akron in 1944. Bill attended Akron East High School, then began a 49- year career at Goodyear, from 1949 to 1998. After his retirement, he was actively involved in the automobile industry - buying, repairing, and selling many vehicles. He was always known as a very hard-working man, who knew how to do most anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Cody and Cora Lee (Smith) Cody. Bill is survived by his ex-wife and best friend, Shirley A. Cody, and their five children: Teresa Cody-Hannah (Bill), William A. Cody (Patty), Bernard E. Cody (Helen), Stewart Cody (Tammy), and Linda Moore (Gill). He also leaves 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, as well as three loving sisters: Bernice Mosyjowski (Nick - dec.), Elma Tossell (Chris), and Helen Nemeth (Joe). Followed by too many friends and associates to mention.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 23 at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Calling hours are 5:00 - 7:00 pm with a service to follow at 7:00 pm
