Allan J. Ostrander
Allan J. Ostrander, 91, of Cuyahoga Falls, went home to be with the Lord on September 27, 2015. He was born in Cleveland on September 20, 1924 to the late John and Margaret Ostrander.
Allan was a proud World War II Army veteran, serving as a Staff Sergeant in the South Pacific Theater. He retired as a tool and die maker at Logan Machine Company. He was a member of The Chapel for over 30 years and volunteered as an usher and in the tape room. In his free time, Allan enjoyed working on electronics and amateur radio.
Allan was loved by all who met him and held a special place in everyone's heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Goldie; and daughter, Carol Rankin.
He will be deeply missed by his son, Allan (JoAnn) Ostrander, daughter, Lynda (Terry) Arman, son-in-law, Joe Rankin, and son, Bob (Carol) Ostrander; sister, Ida Brown; grandchildren, Michael (Charlotte) Arman, David (Jennifer) Arman, Christine (Franklin) Choate, Heather Rankin, Sarah Ostrander, and Susan Ostrander; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Arman, Jacob, Evan, and Hayley Choate; The family wishes to thank Summa of Western Reserve for all the care given to Allan.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Visitation will be Friday from 10-11 followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service with Judge Todd McKenney officiating at the funeral home. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park with military honors provided by Firestone VFW 3383. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Chapel, 135 Fir Hill, Akron, OH 44304.
