Alfred P. "Al" Ahart
Al Ahart, 89, passed away January 29, 2015. Al was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, Ohio. A Navy veteran, Al served during World War II as a Petty Officer and a gunfire repairman. He graduated from Ohio University and became employed by Goodyear Aerospace/Loral/Lockheed Martin as a civil engineer, retiring after 39 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed square dancing, hot air ballooning, woodworking, and traveling. He was a member of Tallmadge United Methodist Church for 55 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Bernice Ahart; son, Timothy "Tim" Ahart; brother, Versie Ahart; and sisters, Bernice Ashton, Artha Hawley, and Barbara Camp. Al is survived by his wife of 64 years, Colleen; son, Thom Ahart of Tallmadge; and brother, David (Judy) Ahart.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 -11 followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service with Rev. William C. Liming Jr. officiating at Tallmadge United Methodist Church, 207 N. Munroe Rd, Tallmadge, OH 44278. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
