Alfred L. Lepley, 71, passed away on May 16, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Al was born on April 23, 1943 in Barberton. He graduated from Springfield High School, where he was a member of the Alumni Marching Band and served with the US Air Force for 6 years. He was a member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene. Al worked all his life as the "friendly Maytag man" and retired from Ellet Maytag. He was an active member of the American Legion Post #566, Garfield Memorial, holding many offices, including Honor Guard and most recently as Commander. Al enjoyed genealogy and was the "yard sale king". Family was everything to Al and he had a great love for life. Preceded in death by his parents, Ellwin Lepley and Dolly Hood Bragg. Survivors include children, Dea (Mark) Rog, Edward (Tammy), Anne (Kyle) Shawhan, and Katie (Richard Krager); sisters, Nora Jean (Richard Ault) Kincaid and Denise Thornton; grandchildren, Destiny (Jacob), Caitlyn, Megan, Shelby, Tannya, Kayla, Samantha, Tristen, Kylie, Buzz, and Celina; great-grandchildren, MaKenna, Christian, Skyler, and Audri; and a host of relatives and friends. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 4-8 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
