Alexander Ramnytz, Sr., 77, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 18, 2001. Alex served with the CCC, received an honorable discharge from the Army Air Corps, and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was proud to be a 32nd degree Master Mason of Akron Lodge #83 and a member of the Canton Consistory of the Scottish Rite. Alex was an avid fisherman and loved baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Anna Ramnytz and his six brothers, Louis, Pete, Steve, Dan, Sam, and William. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Irene; daughters, Irene (Rudy) Dettmer of North Jackson, Shirley (Walter) Moll of Elkton, MD, Alice (John) Williams of Akron, and Marilyn Robinson (Jeff Rienzi) of Akron; sons, Alexander (Robin) Ramnytz, Jr., of Akron and James (Tammy) Ramnytz of Suffield; sister, Mary Grinsky of Norton; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 21st at 4 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at NEWCOMER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. A Masonic service will also be held.
