In Memory Of
Glenn Thomas Moore
1958 - 2023

With his family by his side, Glenn peacefully joined his Lord and Savior in his eternal home on June 3rd, 2023 in his 65th year.

He was born on March 3rd, 1958 in Akron, Ohio. His family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina when he was 15 years of age where he met and later married the love of his life, Hortricia Buchanan Turbyfill. They later made their home in her small mountain hometown of Newland, North Carolina. Glenn adopted her son, Jamie, and made him his own. For over 30 years, most of his truck driving career, he drove to the west coast for Jack Hicks, Inc. Most recently, he hauled North Carolina goods to Yakima, Washington and returned with produce such as apples and potatoes. He loved driving the open road and it was not uncommon to travel through snow in the Rocky Mountains from September to June. He shared many stories about having to use tire chains to pass over treacherous, snow-covered mountains just as the State Highway Patrol shut down the roads.

Glenn had a heart so overflowing with love that it gave out far too soon. In April, he made the courageous trip from North Carolina to Ohio in hopes of getting a heart transplant from the Cleveland Clinic. We had great hopes of spending many more years with this dear man; however, his Lord called him home in His time. We are grateful that he was able to spend his last days with his mother and Ohio family. He was loved by family all over the United States including Washington D.C., Arizona, Kansas, Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina. The countless, continual prayers from family and friends sustained him through this journey and he often said in his sweet southern accent, “Tell them, ‘Thank ya!’ I shore do need it and I appreciate it!” The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16.

He is surely enjoying the heavenly reunion with his beloved wife of 32 years, Hortricia “Tish" Moore; his father, Lawrence Moore; step-father, Harry Butcher; grandson, Macaleb Moore.

This gentle, kind, and generous man was loved by all and will be deeply missed by his mother, Frances Butcher; uncle, Victor (Ann) Pishney; siblings Mark (Lynn) Moore, Judi Moore (Brad Tapp) and Barbara (Steven) Lance; son, Jamie Moore; nieces and nephews Tori, Jen, Brandon, Laura, Megan, Devin, Kate, Ethan, Hannah, and Elizabeth; many great-nieces and nephews; as well as Tish’s siblings, nieces and nephews.
His family is grateful for his special friends: Judy Aldridge for enriching his life with companionship, Bible study and prayer; and Ralph Coffey for meeting practical needs like mowing his lawn, giving his sweet little pup, “Peaches” a forever home, and always being ready for a trip to Spruce Pine to enjoy a Chinese buffet.

His family would like to thank Kim Denny, RN and Leslie Wilson, RN ICD device nurses, Dr. Andrew Hordes, Cardiologist who specializes in electrophysiology, and Dr. Donna Denier, Cardiologist, all of the Heart & Vascular Center of Watauga Medical Center in Boone, North Carolina. Their extraordinary care and concern was such a blessing. At Glenn’s last ICD appointment before moving to Ohio, he conveyed his absolute trust in Dr. Hordes and said, “I’m going to Ohio but I’d rather just move into your Dog house. I’d be close and you could take care of me there.”

At Glenn’s request, his family came together for a private service and his favorite meal to celebrate his life.
