In Memory Of
Destry Owen Harper
1978 - 2023

Our gift from God was called to Heaven on May 3rd, 2023. Destry was born in Akron, Ohio on January 2, 1978, to Larry and Judy (Cooper) Harper. He moved to Colorado with his parents and sister when he was an infant and that is where he spent the majority of his life. While living in Colorado, Destry enjoyed camping, riding 4-wheelers in the desert, taking trips to the mountains, hunting, participating in Special Olympics, working in the community and participating in the Fruita Lions Club as a Leo member as well as attending Lion’s Camp. He was a graduate of Fruita Monument High School.

Destry later returned to Ohio with his parents, sister and brother-in-law. He worked at Portage Industries, Inc., participated in Unified Resources Recreation activities (previously Powercorps), was a member of Alley Cats Bowling league, Special Olympics and participated in Rotary Camp through the Rotary Club of Akron. He enjoyed spending his spare time hunting and fishing, shopping, having game night, going to the movies, playing video games, WWE and he was always up for an excursion. His favorite things in life were music and dancing, his girlfriend of 10+ years, Angie Rader, and his family.

It has been said that Destry touched the lives and hearts of everyone who met him, with a sparkle in his eyes, bright smile, witty sense of humor, and deeply loving nature.

Destry leaves behind, to always love and remember him, his parents Larry and Judy Harper; only sibling and “best buddy” Jennifer (Jason “brother”) Lopez; Aunt Polly Marshall; Uncle Allen Harper; Uncle Johnny (Jo) Cooper; Aunt Cindy (Tom) McKenzie; Aunt Becky (Rick) Fatica; Uncle Kenny (Annette) Cooper; and Uncle Jeff Cooper; also cousins Jim, Steve, Jerry, Katie, Annette, Kim, Christy, Colleen, Rick, Little John, Valerie, Lisa, TJ, Ricky J, Randy, Danielle, Little Kenny, Ashley, and Little Jeff.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chester and Evelyn (Stratton) Harper, John and Margaret “Maggie” (Good) Cooper, and Uncle Danny “Boone” Harper.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Unified Resources Recreation, 705A Oakwood St Ravenna OH 44266-2137.

The family invites all who knew Destry to please join them in a Celebration of Life. Please come dressed casually to share memories on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 11am-1pm and 3pm-6:30pm at Wingfoot Lake State Park, Dogwood Shelter House, 993 Goodyear Park Blvd. Mogadore OH, 44260.
