He was born on May 12, 1936 in Birk, Romania, the son of the late Michael and Katerina (nee Dienesch) Menyes.
John was an honorably discharged US Army veteran, during peacetime.
John worked for 34 years at B F Goodrich and retired as Vice President of IT in 1993.
John had two passions, fishing and most importantly his family.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, the former Theresa Zimmer, whom he married on June 27, 1959; his children, John David (Donna) Menyes, Tom (Sharon) Menyes and Linda (Bill) Morris; his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
John also has one brother that survives, Mike (Emily) Menyes; and his several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2141 5th Street, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221 on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM, where Rev. Paul Frerich will celebrate John's life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Easterseals of North East Ohio, or to the American Heart Association, or to Redeemer Lutheran Church, in John's memory.
All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Newcomer Funeral Home, Akron, Ohio.
His urn will be inurned at Chestnut Hill Cemetery at a later date.
