In Memory Of
Joan "Jody" Brookes
1929 - 2023

Joan "Jody" Brookes entered Heaven on March 14, 2023 at the age of 93. She was a faithful member of Chapel of Prayer Baptist Church for 55 years. She belonged to various other groups and clubs such as The Moose Club, Tallmadge Primetimer, Widow and Widowers Club and a widows card club. Before covid, Jody would go to the Tallmadge Recreation Center four days a week, walking three miles each time. She loved making peanut butter fudge for her grandchildren, doctors, neighbors and friends. She also enjoyed working in her flower beds.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lynn.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Denny (Judy) Speirs and Sherry (Jim) Schafer; sister, June Fagan; grandchildren, Johnny (Diana) Speirs, Laurie Stalnaker, Tammy (Mike) Freshly, Denny (Danielle) Speirs, Jim (Shannon) Schafer, Jeff (Julie) Schafer and Jamie Schafer; and 11 great-grandchildren. Jody also leaves behind many wonderful friends and longtime neighbors of more than 60 years, Jean James, Billie Cuppett and Mary Lou.

A private family service is scheduled with Rev. Sherman Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
