Daniel Michael Miller Life story video
At 4:20 am on September 12, 2022, Daniel Michael Miller, age 70, went home to be with the Lord. He was greeted by his dad, Frank Cleveland Miller; mom, Jean Lillian Miller (Gregory); and sister, Kathy Arbaugh, in heaven. He is survived by his children Melissa (Matt) Powell; The Dan Miller Experience; Sarah Miller; and Angel Weisner; his sister, Wendy (Joe) Forney; his brother Frank (Peggy); and his other brother Frank (Michelle); as well as many nieces and nephews.

Dan received an associate degree in Specialized Electronics Technology BMET from United Electronics Institute in 1980. Throughout his life, Dan was the senior field engineer for Storage Technology, head programmer analyst and chief of operations for Edwin Shaw Hospital, a senior software engineer for Olympic Financial Group, consultant for New Resources Corporation and Cole National Consulting, project manager for Hunter Manufacturing, and software engineer/application programmer for Ajilon Consulting.

Dan was a generous person who helped his family and friends in any way possible. This obituary does not do justice to the kind and resilient man Dan was. Those who knew him always expressed how delightful it was to know and talk to him. Aside from computers, throughout his life, Dan enjoyed running and being outdoors, spending time with his kids, reading scripture, and spreading the word. His son, Dan, fondly remembers watching The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. with his dad, and the two even met Bruce Campbell together. His son-in-law, Matt, enjoyed Sunday dinners and football with Dan. And his daughter, Melissa, fondly remembers their many adventures exploring the Summit County Metro Parks, roller skating at Springfield Lake Roller Rink, long drives with no destination, and watching Star Trek: The Next Generation or figure skating on Saturdays. In recent years, she enjoyed coffee dates with her dad, watching horror (something they had done together ever since she was in diapers), and cheesy SyFy movies. Many people have said how Dan was incredibly proud of his daughter, and Melissa will be forever grateful for her dad’s unwavering support and will deeply miss their daily phone conversations.

In 1989, Dan was born again when he accepted Jesus into his heart, and his faith remained extremely important to him for the rest of his life.

Melissa would like to acknowledge her dad’s lifelong friends, Margaret Smith and Bet Marr, for their generosity and kindness; Arbors at Fairlawn for taking care of Dan while he fought many illnesses over the past few years; The Chapel for visiting and worshipping with Dan; and the staff at InCare Ohio (particularly Megan, Nikki, and Chaplain Ed) for taking care of Dan the last month of his life.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20th, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron), followed by a short service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Hillside Memorial Park (1025 Canton Rd., Akron).

The family asks those who wish to pay their respects to please wear or accessorize with something blue in honor of Dan’s favorite color.
